In this new Business Week article Scott Belsky, author and CEO of an online platform provider, discusses the traps many crowdsourcing efforts encounter when tapping professionals as 'the crowd'. He argues the need for new business models to accompany calls for submission in professional settings, so that the effort which individuals put in creating solutions isn't entirely wasted when their suggestion will not be the winning idea.

A few days ago The Economist has published a special report on telecoms in emerging markets. An interesting read, particularly since mobile phones constitute an infrastructure which, unlike the internet or brick-and-mortar businesses or banks, is available to large parts of the population in developing countries, and can be used in various ways - even as electronic money.
